Settling in

Flyer Goodness Filed Under:

the room at the top isnt mine, although I'll be staying in it until we find a tenant to take it up, upon when I will be sharing the room with the samsung flatscreen. I finally was able to take stuff out of my toiletry bag and suitcase, and leave it out.

Isle of Dogs

Flyer Goodness Filed Under:

So I was watching this for a bit to see how it worked and it doesnt seem to be as complicated as it looks; two lights usually signal the same entry point in the roundabout, and most of the time cars/bikes have to circle to allow for the lagtime during a turn into a point off the roundabout. I wouldnt want to get lost and run into this, though if i got into a rental my first day in.

More inspiration, more excuses for the fact that I'm still in process of obtaining a steady source of income since landing. In case you can't read the highlighted passage, it states "If not already we are likely to be in recession by Christmas." Happy Holidays.

not the dollar theatre, but 1/2 monday cinemas aren't bad

Flyer Goodness Filed Under:

In theatres here, at least the Barbican, you have to pick your seats before you get your tickets. It does make the process a lot more straightforward. And the screen is really small. Like a blown up size of the above image (from Londonist). I got to see Gommorra, an Italian film exploring the mafia culture in modern Italy, as well as social issues from illegal waste disposal, sweatshop practices and auctions, and something that isn't seen in too many movies, especially mob movies, to this extent: youth exploitation by organized crime.

Last night of hostelling...for now

Flyer Goodness Filed Under:

The hostel was an interesting place, made for an experience for being there for about 2weeks, jumping around rooms since I didn't want to book too many in advance. But at costs looking at 82 quid for rent and 15 quid for internet PER WEEK actually makes living in an apartment more affordable, without the free bread and cereal breakfast. However, it was centrally located, had a full-service kitchen, and is basically an old London courthouse/jailhouse as you might tell from the first photo.

even in the Kingdom, free gigs exist....my world lightens slightly

Flyer Goodness Filed Under:

Given the lighting, handicam limitations and my photo-novicery, only the top photo (see pink frilled newt on right speaker) was taken by me, others thanks to dedicated flikrers. Of Montreal did a free show in th east end, loving it already. And, I still have the curse. The curse of always being behind the guy who expresses the music physically through his own body, his neck, head and torso a wiggling Winamp Visualizer.
